Who’s Your Dave?
Most of us know someone who has struggled with mental illness. It may be a family member, friend, coworker or neighbor.
“Who’s Your Dave?” reminds us that mental illness is not distant or abstract. It affects real people we know and love, and many face additional challenges such as housing instability, isolation and limited access to consistent care.
Dave’s House responds to that need by combining safe, affordable housing with the behavioral healthcare and support residents need to build stability, live more independently and feel connected to their community.
Proud Sponsor of Dave’s House Party: Built to Last
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, members of the TSG team joined community leaders and advocates at the Sheraton Orlando North in Maitland for Dave’s House Party: Built to Last.
As an honored sponsor, TSG was proud to support an evening celebrating Dave’s House’s 17-year journey and the people and partnerships helping move its mission forward. The event also looked ahead to the organization’s next major milestone: breaking ground on Dave’s House at Celery Community, its first multi-unit permanent supportive housing community for adults living with serious mental illness.
Board Chair Elena Norman opened the program with a powerful question: “Who Is Your Dave?” Guests were asked to stand if someone in their lives had been affected by mental illness. Nearly 75% of the room stood, creating an emotional reminder that mental illness touches almost every family and community.
Orange County Corrections Chief Louis Quiñones also spoke about the connection between mental health and the justice system. More than 40% of individuals in the Orange County Jail have been diagnosed with a mental health condition, underscoring the urgent need for supportive housing, access to care and community-based solutions.
Guests also heard from Dave’s House CEO Ellen O’Connor and PJ Brooks, Chief Operating Officer of Community Assisted & Supported Living, about the progress being made on Dave’s House at Celery Community. Longtime board member Chris Hayes reflected on the organization’s journey and the five-acre Sanford property that will become the new community.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2026 Dr. Joel C. Hunter Legacy Award to Jonathan and Nancy Wolf of Wendover Housing Partners. The award recognized their leadership in affordable housing and their lasting commitment to creating stronger, more stable communities throughout Central Florida.
The “Built to Last” theme felt especially fitting to our team. In our work, lasting success depends on thoughtful design, strong partnerships and a clear understanding of the people a space will serve. Dave’s House applies that same principle to supportive housing by creating not only a place to live, but also a long-term foundation for recovery, connection and hope.
Helping Bring Dave’s House at Celery to Life
TSG is honored to contribute professional expertise to projects connected to the Dave’s House mission, including the new Dave’s House at Celery Community in Sanford.
This thoughtfully planned neighborhood will include eight duplex homes designed to support independent living for up to 20 residents. A 3,500-square-foot community center will provide space for workshops, wellness programs, social connection and group activities.
Residents will also have access to green spaces and essential resources such as on-site case management, peer support, healthcare partnerships, educational sessions and job-readiness programs.
Every part of the community is being planned with dignity, stability and belonging in mind. It represents a powerful example of how architecture, engineering and the homebuilding industry can work together to address a critical community need.
Stronger Through Community Partnerships
Dave’s House at Celery is also a meaningful point of connection between organizations TSG is proud to support. HomeAid Orlando is serving as the construction and design partner for the community, bringing together the expertise and generosity of the local building industry.
Partnerships like these demonstrate what becomes possible when nonprofits, design professionals, builders, healthcare providers and local leaders unite around a shared purpose. Each organization brings a different strength, but together, they help create safe and sustainable housing solutions that can transform lives.
TSG is also looking ahead to another meaningful housing project supporting The Lifeboat Project, a Central Florida nonprofit providing long-term, trauma-informed care and housing support for survivors of human trafficking. The organization serves men, women, mothers and children, including families who have experienced homelessness as a result of trafficking.
Through partnerships with organizations such as HomeAid Orlando and members of the local building industry, these projects help create safe, supportive environments where survivors and their children can begin healing and rebuilding their lives. Thoughtful, trauma-informed housing is essential to that journey and serves as another powerful reminder that a home can be the first step toward a new future.
A Commitment That Goes Beyond Business
For TSG Founder Mike Keesee, supporting Dave’s House is more than a company initiative. It is a cause he believes in personally. His commitment includes both TSG’s professional involvement and personal financial support of the organization’s work.
